Join us at the farm to delve into the world of foraging and use the seasonal ingredients we find to make something to take away with you!
This scenic foraging walk will guide you through all the fundamentals of foraging and help you discover the abundance of fresh greens, edible flowers, herbs and fungi available through the seasons.
Leah will show you how to safely and sustainably identify and gather wild food, whilst sampling some delights along the way. You'll be given hints and tips on how to use the ingredients we find, as well as learning some fascinating folklore about them.
This walk will help you to connect to the environment around you and empower you to go on and learn more. It will be an exploration of the senses as we discover natures abundance.
The walk will take place at Chew Magna's stunning Community Farm, where you will discover the importance of sourcing seasonal and sustainable produce. Soak up all this new knowledge while absorbing your picturesque surroundings, from the farm to Chew Lake.

May 11th 2025 - Late Spring foraging walk & Spring tonics
Spring is a wonderful time to delve into the world of wild food! Leah will guide you on a walk around the farm where you will explore the abundance of fresh Spring greens the land has to offer, learn about their edible and medicinal uses and then sustainably harvest them before heading back to the yurt to make your very own Spring tonics! The plants of Spring offer us many of the benefits that our body craves after a long winter - they help us to cleanse and reinvigorate our systems. This workshop will give you hands-on experience in using foraged ingredients to make seasonal herbal concoctions which will boost your immune system.
June 21st - Summer solstice - Summer foraging walk & Fermented wild teas and herbal infusions
Join Leah on the longest day of the year to soak up the Summer sun and explore the beautiful range of edible and medicinal wildflowers, foliage and fruits that the Summer has to offer. There are so many wonderful wild foods to be sampled at this time of the year. You’ll be guided through the identification process, learn about the practical uses of everything we find, before sustainably harvesting your own ingredients to take back to the yurt and craft your own wild teas and herbal infusions. This will include an old traditional method for making a fermented tea which is packed with health benefits. Hands-on experience to help you get to grips with using wild ingredients in your everyday life.
September 6th - Autumnal foraging & Immune boosting hedgerow elixirs
This time of the year brings an abundance of fruits, nuts and seeds. Join Leah on a foraging walk around the farm to study the range of different hedgerow offerings which the Autumn season brings. Learn about the edible and medicinal benefits of the plants and mushrooms we find, their folklore and how to prepare them. After the walk you’ll head to the yurt for some hands-on experience to create your own delicious, immune boosting tonics and a hawthorn ketchup.
Please allow an extra ten minutes to find the farm so we can start on time.
Please be prepared for what ever the British weather may bring!
Concession rate available for low income.
Children under 10 go free, one child per adult please.
A minimum of 14 days notice before the event date is required to reschedule.
If there are no suitable alternative dates you can either have a voucher to redeem anytime within 1 year, or a refund minus the booking fee of £5.
